Recap of the Chicago Printers Guild Gallery Tour

On Saturday afternoon, the Chicago Printers Guild hosted a well-attended gallery tour on the 9th floor of the Harold Washington Library Center, where our current exhibition is on display. The event provided an opportunity to gather in person, share work, and reflect on the diverse print practices showcased in the show. We’d like to extend a special thank-you to Dud Lawson for hosting and leading the tour. We are also deeply grateful to fellow CPG member and Harold Washington Library archivist Michelle McCoy, who added valuable archival context to the discussion and generously documented the event. Their insights helped contextualize the exhibition within the broader history of CPG’s 16 years. The tour coincided with Chicago Zine Fest, held in the library’s Winter Garden, adding to the creative energy throughout the building. The overlap between these events highlighted the spirit of Chicago’s independent publishing and printmaking communities. We thank everyone who joined us.

Join Us Again – August 30 Our next guided tour of the exhibition will be on August 30 at 2 PM. All for Print. Print for All. Archiving 16 Years of the Chicago Printers Guild is a landmark exhibition celebrating the Guild’s Sweet Sixteen. On view through January 5, 2026, this extensive show features selected prints, zines, posters, and ephemera from the CPG archive. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the legacy and ongoing energy of Chicago’s print community.
