A Body of Knowledge: Tour, Conversation & Zine Workshop
Thursday, August 7 · 1:30 - 2 pm / 3:30 -4:30

We invite you to join CPG member Nia Easley in conversation with Scout Bratt of the Chicago Women’s Health Center and cartoonist Marnie Galloway as they explore the vibrant cross‑section of art and health through the DIY medium of zines.

The day begins at 1:30 PM with a tour of A Body of Knowledge at the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection. Curated by Nia Easley, the exhibition features zines and artists’ books from both the JFABC and her personal archive. The show centers on publications distributed by the Chicago Women’s Health Center,

highlighting both historical and contemporary works about women’s health, reproductive justice, and mutual care—topics often shared through grassroots and clandestine methods.

At 3:30 PM, join us at the Harold Washington Library for a conversation between Scout Bratt (Chicago Women’s Health Center) and Marnie Galloway (cartoonist and illustrator), moderated by Nia Easley. They will discuss the power of independent publishing in disseminating health knowledge, building community, and visual storytelling. The conversation will be followed by a hands-on zine-making workshop led by Nia.
